Mentorship Program

Phase 1 will launch in Serbia, October of 2021, followed by Hungary, Austria, Romania & Poland by the end of the year.

As part of our “ROM-ESCO” program, this mentorship program was founded on the belief that all Roma deserve to feel heard and have access to support whenever they need it. We believe that the development of a strong support network will help decrease marginalization and discrimination of poverty stricken communities and settlements in heavily Roma populated countries.

The mission of the WRF’s ROM-ESCO Mentorship Program is to empower Roma Youth, Men and Women to take on leadership roles and realize their full potential as community leaders. By facilitating mentoring relationships, providing opportunities for networking and self-determination, and teaching practical leadership skills, the program helps Roma strengthen their self-confidence, find their voice, learn to influence the community and exercise authority, and articulate and pursue leadership goals.

Our mentor trainees will also develop skills to meet the following SDG Targets:

17.16 Enhance the global partnership for sustainable development, complemented by multi-stakeholder partnerships that mobilize and share knowledge, expertise, technology and financial resources, to support the achievement of the sustainable development goals in all countries, in particular developing countries

17.17 Encourage and promote effective public, public-private and civil society partnerships, building on the experience and resourcing strategies of partnerships
