SDG ACTION PLAN

The World Roma Federation plays a crucial role in implementing the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in Roma communities worldwide, with a particular focus on SDG 16: Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions, and SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals. By leveraging these two goals, the Federation aims to create sustainable change and empower Roma communities. SDG 16 emphasizes the importance of promoting inclusive societies, ensuring access to justice for all, and building effective and accountable institutions at all levels. The World Roma Federation works towards achieving this goal by advocating for the rights of Roma people, combating discrimination and social exclusion, and promoting equal opportunities. Additionally, SDG 17 emphasizes the significance of partnerships and collaboration to achieve the SDGs. The Federation actively engages with governments, civil society organizations, and other stakeholders to foster partnerships that can drive positive change in Roma communities. By utilizing SDG 16's focus on justice and strong institutions and SDG 17's emphasis on partnerships, the World Roma Federation strives to implement the other goals effectively and create a more equitable and prosperous future for Roma communities globally.

Roma Mentorship Program

As part of our “ROM-ESCO” program, this mentorship program was founded on the belief that all Roma deserve to feel heard and have access to support whenever they need it. We believe that the development of a strong support network will help decrease marginalization and discrimination of poverty stricken communities and settlements in heavily Roma populated countries.

Socio Economic Integration

Under our "ROM-ESCO" initiative, we have developed a program for socio-economic integration that aims to establish collaborations with numerous stakeholders and form public-private partnerships with member states, particularly those with significant Roma populations. This program aligns with the relevant Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) to ensure inclusive growth and social cohesion.

Smart Village Project

The primary goal of this program is to ensure economic, environmental, and structural integrity. Accountability is a shared responsibility among governments and communities alike. The Roma community faces significant challenges, including limited opportunities and access to contemporary applications for reducing carbon emissions and promoting sustainable living. Compared to other ethnic and minority groups in the region, the Roma are hindered by outdated local and EU agricultural policies. This program aims to address these issues from both socio-economic and sustainability perspectives.
